This assignment was group based. Our task was to act as one of President Kennedy’s defense council. We were given a set of clues, and events and as a group we had to figure out a solution. The Cuban missile crisis occurred in the 1960’s. The Soviets secretly placed missiles in Cuba. With our set of clues, our group had to figure out a solution to the crisis. Our group concluded to remove Russia’s weapons from Cuba, and the U.S’s from Turkey. I didn't feel so confident with this project. The task made little to no sense to me, which had me doing not much. Once I finally understood the task, my teammates already had gone through most of the information. They were all set on their final decision and just chimed me in on it. future Note I would have definitely asked Ms. Terry for more of an understanding, and engage myself more in the group conversation .
21st century skills thinking and problem solving- As a group we used thinking and problem solving skills, collectively thinking of ways we could keep everyone safe. We had to run through each option and think of the problems it may cause, and or solutions it may occur. Global Awarness- We also used global awareness skills. We demonstrated our understanding of what was taking place during the crisis, and responded with what we felt would help save the country and community. With the Soviets motives, we used our knowledge from the clues to solve how we could avoid the missiles being launched.
