So far into the school year, we've done a good amount of classwork worksheets, and activities in class. My favorite ones include some type of art. My favorite assignment so far is the "Who am I?" poem. For the assignment we had to create a poem of our childhood, and or what home is to you. My whole poem is about 15 lines long, but I decided to just share my favorite 5 lines. For this project I used 3 21st century skills. Self direction, thinking-problem solving, and communication skills. After I brainstormed ideas, I stayed self directed on task the whole time, not needing to be redirected by Ms. Terry. I'm most proud of how the end product came out. I like how I jokingly captured and described Kihei in 5 lines. It hits a little more home since it's sorta like a bunch of inside jokes. The most difficult task for this project was the drawing part. Like I said above, I had to trace the images over my phone since I'm not the most artistic. The pictures came out good, but not as good as I wanted it to be. If I could redo this I would definitely spend more time on the illustrations. Possibly also make the hand-writing more neat and eligible, looks a bit sloppy right now. In the past I learned about the basics of poems and the importance of sensory details in the poems. In the future I can reflect back on this poem and see how much my poem writing skills has progressed. I can also compare how I viewed Kihei as a 16 year old vs. who knows.
